The Great Favor Debate

Long before C and I got engaged we would always jokingly discuss our "future" wedding details every time we would be a guest at someone else's wedding and the one thing that always came up was the favor situation. I've always thought the more practical the better, therefore food favors always appealed to me...C liked them too especially the weddings we go to that had chocolate truffle favors because of course he's a chocoholic...

As we now plan our own wedding C very eagerly appointed himself favor duty and the one idea he keeps coming back to is a ::drum roll:: .... SPORK, yes you read that correctly, he wants to give away sporks as the wedding favor. At first thought he was joking and he was just making jest of the situation and in my own opinion very nicely suggested he go back to the food favor idea, namely chocolate truffles, but as the weeks go by, and he keeps coming back to it and thats when i started thinking, "dear god he's serious!"... so serious that today he even presented a petition to me when i vetoed him last night...take a gander please:

this obviously means a lot to C, SO much that he went through the trouble to justify and prove that he's got a good idea, after some thought (i mean it's his wedding too right?) a spork does sorta suit us in a weird way...it's nerdy which is totally C, and its the melding of two objects creating one harmonious object, which is in many ways just like a real marriage, a marriage between a spoon and fork makes a spork! right? the idea's growing on me

so what do i do now? look for a favor place that will let me order oh lets say 250 stainless steel sporks...after a quick google search this is what i have:

as a favor i think the ebay one is probably the best bet...as of now that is the front runner until i can find a better one...please stay tuned for the hunt of the perfect SPORK!!!

queen of procrastination example numero uno

procrastination happens to everyone right? right? (even if it doesn't i'm going to choose to believe it does) as the date of my engagement party was approaching i kept flip flopping on whether i am going to do party favors or nix the whole thing...but after seeing my engagement party twin (she had hers on the same day as mine) post her favor ideas on LIW i knew i had to do something...so the brainstorming began (7 days prior to the event)...it took me 2 days when i decided i'd do something uber easy and something i can pull together in minimal time since i obviously wouldn't be able to order these suckers and have them delivered in time for my PAH-teee...

little boxes of chocolaty goodness! or little pieces of bliss, kisses and hugs!


i purchased 75 2"x 2" favor boxes from the container store for $35.76 (you can most definitely find these suckers online for cheaper, but because i was in a time crunch i was okay with paying more)

then i purchased a whole lotta chocolate kisses, bliss and hugs in dark and milk chocolate varieties and filled the boxes with about 10-12 pieces each, luckily for me hershey happened to be on sale at the local rite aid down the block...so the chocolates (16 bags) came out to $50.00


with the event now 4 days away i had to figure out how these things are gonna be wrapped... i must admit i had not the faintest idea how...BUT lucky for me i work in the garment district and there are trim stores all around...and M&J trimming happens to be up the block from my office! (this is ribbon and trim mecca for those of you that don't know) i popped in at lunch time and found the most perfect 3/8 mm satin ivory ribbon...at $27 for 100 yards i had more than enough ribbon to finish off this project


along with my mom we tied all 75 little boxes for the party that was to happen the next day

so without further ado i present to you my precious little favor:

ok so it's not martha stewart-y but it got the job done and everyone seemed to be happy to take home a little sweetness with them.

for those of you who are more ambitious you may decide to tie a favor tag to yours, i would've done this but i obviously had no time..just print a bunch of thank yous up on word and affix each to a piece of cardstock with either glue stick or double stick tape and insta favor tag you have!
