bacon wrapped scallops, coconut shrimp skewers and sliders

so i was thinking about my favorite foods, and let me tell you there are A LOT, chris will attest to the fact that i'm such a little piggy and that i will ALWAYS without hesitation order more food than i will ever be able to finish...but thats not here nor there...

i was thinking about our hors devours at our cocktail hour and i remember thinking when we booked the place that bacon wrapped scallops HAVE to be served because well, i love them and would've been a deal breaker if the caterer couldn't deliver...and of course the classics: pigs in a blanket, mini quiches, spanokopita, coconut shrimp, thai chicken in peanut sauce, bruschetta and SLIDERS!

ok i added the last one, but seriously, who doesn't like a mini hamburger? they're so tasty! i wonder what the groom to be thinks?

Color Saga End...hopefully

alrighty, so it really isn't the hugest world ending deal this color thing...but hopefully chris will be happy with my compromise...we'll keep the champagne and ivory color theme because we both like it, BUT i will be still free to use brown and periwinkle blue accents here and there where i see it will work...like a hint of blue with the hydrangeas in an ivory bouquet , or the brown tree branches with hanging votives for the centerpieces...and perhaps a combo in the invitations?

i am woo-sa-ing (bad boys reference) about this...

He Hates It

so the groom to be has put it out there that he thinks my choice of wedding color is MESSED UP!
MOI! picking a messed up color scheme! you gotta be kidding me, i can see this is going to be a source of contention...le sigh! he wants to go with champagnes and AMBERS and ivories...but I think AMBER is a messed up color, so HA!

but that doesn't solve our problem...ugh...what now? it's his wedding too, should we decide on a scheme we both like? or should i push for what i want? because seriously all the girls think its great and love it, but the guys think its weird, odd, messed up, interesting anything but great with the exception of the flowerboy :-(

Color Me Happy

throughout my wedding planning process, i must've changed my color scheme like 10 times...
originally i was thinking of having a spring wedding so i imagined lots greens and creams...sorta like this, but at the risk of looking very irish (which neither of us are) i loved green orchids so i thought perfect!:

but then the wedding got moved to the fall...so i had to revise...and thought...ooo maybe shades of navy blue and greens like this:

but alas, we didn't think it would work for our wedding for various reasons...so we decided on shades of ivory and champagne... no photo of this one so use your imagination =P

but i couldn't let go of the fact that my favorite color won't be incorporated into my wedding! however i was making peace with it...until yesterday! i was determined to find more colors for my wedding because just ivory and champagne felt dull to me, just a little bit...so i started looking up greens and blues and i found this:

i'm in love! the pale blue color... my heart be still...the brown will make it fall happy and the champagnes and ivories will still work! and voila...my new color scheme was born...

now only to convince the groom to be that this is what HE wants too...that is perfection...

oh and let me add he said something quite funny as we were shopping for cheeses at dean and deluca, he turns to me and goes "i like amber" as in the burnt orangey yellow color...i couldn't believe he knew to use a color name that was NOT on the primary color chart hahaha i was very proud of him but i veto that color, so HA!

but i need to give him some credit for bringing my phone out to manhattan today when i forgot it at home, so now i have an excuse to meet with him for lunch!...love you baby, you're the awesomest! ::muah::

Keyfood Brand Banana Cream Pie Yogurt

this isn't wedding related, but this is so good! and its somewhat healthy! i can eat it all day long... it actually does taste like banana cream pie...and at 210 calories for 8 oz, i'm feeling it's ok...2 grams of fat per serving is not too bad either for lowfat yogurt that tastes good :-)

if you got a keyfood around you, GO GET SOME AND TRY IT!

don't you hate it when you go to a supermarket/store and you forget to take one of the bags on the plastic bag dispenser?!?!??!

chris bought me a copy of modern bride with anne hathaway and kate hudson on the cover, and after we get home as i'm looking for it in our bags, i realize we left it at the store!!! poo!

Friday Night Date With My Girls

aight, so like every other bride and or woman out there who is obsessed with weddings, comedy and movies we're going to see:

hope it's as funny and awesome as i think it's going to be!!!

shoot! i'm engaged!

after booking my wonderfully talented photographer ryan brenizer, we're now brainstorming WHERE to shoot our engagement session and WHEN might be good too...considering we'll be having a time crunch on our wedding day the engagement photos location needs to be extra special/memorable i think so we can do all the photos we want to but can't for the wedding...

Here are a few possibilities...

A. Northport Yacht Club

chris and i have spent many a summers here sailing and such and it'll also give us an opportunity to take some sexy beach pictures ala mrs hibiscus of weddingbee, but chris isn't so thrilled with this prospect...but he hasn't throw the idea out yet

B. Brooklyn Height Promenade

since we both live in brooklyn and he works in lower manhattan, i thought this would also make for some awesome new yorky engagement photos, it'll be trendy and stylish etc etc...but it doesn't really serve any particular meaning to our relationship so chris again is hesitant about giving me the green light about this one

C. Adirondaks High Peaks Region - Mount Jo
This place would be perfect i guess, but logistically getting up here with our photographer is a huge task to undertake and i'm not likely to want to venture into this sort of territory...

D. Old Westbury Gardens

i think this place is GORGEOUS! you have the gardens, the mansion everything...most people take their wedding photos here on Long Island but yea, it's an old standby favorite, but chris isn't too thrilled with this one either... the man is hard to please ladies and gents.


so there is my dilemma, where to have these photos taken? i'm leaving towards A and B obviously..but where would you/have you take your engagement photos?

Roll Call

Maid of Honor Roomie - roommates from our days at stony brook, the sister of my heart and someone i can talk to about ANYTHING, and i literally mean that - this was us on our way to cali on a trip that i like to believe changed all our lives forever :-)

bridesmaid babydoll - sorority sister and have grown ever closer as the years go bym- this is us on my 25th birthday celebration at medieval times


bridesmaid hopefully future sister in law - the only girl in the whole wide world who knows what i go through everyday with chris, the only one out there that truly understands what it means to date a capuozzo - this is us on my 25th birthday


bridesmaid Lil - suitemate from my days at stonybrook, you put up with me like no one else and will always tell me how it is, not to mention fellow met fan gf haha - this is us at a mets vs nationals game

bridesmaid future sister in law - the sister that i always wanted, i can't wait to be a capuozzo! this is us at her august 2008 wedding

Will you be my bridesmaid?

when it came to choosing my bridesmaids, it was fairly painless, i mean after i got over the fact that i will have SIX girls proceeding me down the aisle (honestly, i envisioned something more like 3...but everything happens for a reason right?) and that i couldn't just choose ONE maid of honor (MOH for short) i started brainstorming how i'd ask them...in the end i went to papyrus and picked up these babies
wrote to each of them how much they meant to me, how much more it would mean to me and how much of an honor it would be for me if they will stand with me on the most important day of my life...

for my two MOHs i also picked up this little nifty handbook from amazon.com:

for my 2 MOHs and 3 of my bridesmaids i was able to do this in person, but unfortunately for my final bridesmaid, i had to ask over the phone (will mail her card to her via snail mail) because she lives in las vegas and since chris and i probably won't be able to make it over to see her soon, i had to concede defeat and do her differently...

ideally i would've taken them ALL out to lunch/brunch or dinner and do them all together so they can bond, but since there are so many of them and logistics was turning out to be an impossibility...each bridesmaid was asked separately on their own day.

How to make her sparkle...again

so a couple of months ago i went ring "window" shopping with my MOH and her bf (chris' groomsman and one of my bestest friends in the world) and we stopped into many of the top jewelers on 5th avenue, one of the places we stopped by was DeBeers...i was musing how pretty and sparkly the diamonds were compared to mine with all the grime and slime from everyday wear...so the wonderful british (i have an affinity for cool accents, and yes the english are among the many i am infatuated with) gemologist told me that all i had to do to get my ring to sparkle like the diamonds in the store/ like new was to do the following:

1. soft bristled toothbrush

2. use some dish soap (any kind that will cut through grease)
3. brush the ring under some warm water with the soaped toothbrush and voila!
alright you can't really tell but it does shine as if it was new...granted it is always better to get it professionally cleaned by a jeweler, but if you brush your little baby once a week it will be enough to keep it close to its top shape ;-)

note: this little trick happens to work on my diamond studs too, TRY IT! it will save you a trip to the jewelry store!
